Giveaways, Freebies, & Other Fantastic Things

I’ve been learning all kinds of incredible things from Rebecca Hamilton at OTOH Books, guys! I am boldly exploring new frontiers in marketing and other things on the business side of writing. I’m re-launching Author Promo Network, as well. I made a post about that on Facebook today, but it probably wouldn’t hurt to make one on the actual APN blog.

ANYWAY…back to the point of this post.

I’m super excited to be running some giveaways, and my Street Team is where the BEST giveaway action is. My team gets access to exclusive giveaways and freebies no one else gets.

Join the Fiction Freebies group on Facebook for regular updates on active author giveaways! I’m not the only author in the group. We’re constantly adding new authors who can share giveaways you can enter! The giveaways are all no purchase necessary.

My Current Giveaways:

5 Favourite things
1.      Movies.
Especially sci-fi/fantasy, paranormal/supernatural, and comic-based movies. I
also count those types of TV shows, ie Supernatural, Jessica Jones, Arrow etc.
2.      Books. Does
that surprise you? Hehe
3.      Pets. I love
my pets, and can’t wait to get more. We already have 1 dog, 2 cats and 3
snakes. We also want another dog, horses, chickens… we want a menagerie!
4.      Quiet times
with my fiancé and our daughter, or just one-on-one time with either of them. I
don’t care if it’s at home or out. “Us time” is always magical.

5.      House
planning. Sounds weird, I know. But I love looking at houses for sale,
especially ones with floor plans, and imagining what furniture would go in it,
themes, and yes, even making my own floorplans. I have considered doing
interior decorating, and haven’t yet ruled out chasing that path.

She’s one powerful Goddess, with acolytes she loves as children. They’re her coven, and she will protect them however she can. She is Hecate. As she wills, So Mote It Be.

This inclusion tells the tale of a powerful coven in Salem. They face off against Bokors, demons and fellow witches. Will the power of their Goddess be enough to protect them as they fight to keep Salem safe? Will the women who lead them get the love they desire? Or will they burn in the fires that condemned their ancestors so many years ago?

Darkness
surrounded her, smoke and the metallic scent of blood filled her nostrils.
Panicked screams and bellows echoed around her as she fumbled about. She
couldn’t tell which form she was in, human or stag, she was simply overwhelmed.
Out of nowhere, fiery red eyes appeared in front of her. White fangs gnashed
together in a sadistic grin. The figure came closer, allowing her to see it
clearer. Wrinkled skin cracked and oozed as the blackened flesh moved. The foul
apparition had been born of fire, she was sure, brought here to destroy and
devour. Large, leathery wings sprouted from its back, the bony frames licked by
flames that seemed to come from the creature itself. It was a nightmare
summoned from the bowels of Hell, just one of many. If she didn’t stop it,
they’ d consume the world, at the word of one scorned witch. She needed to get
to the root of the problem, Hilana, before it was too late.
“Morgan!”
She opened her eyes at Caleb’s call, his face
filling her field of vision. He pursed his lips and frowned, and it took her a
moment to realize she must have fallen asleep and called out in a dream.
“Morgan, you were having a pretty bad
nightmare, what happened?”
“It wasn’t just a dream; it was a
foreshadowing.”
“That bad, huh?”  Caleb sat on the window seat next to
her.
“I don’t know what Hilana will promise them,
but the demons will devour the world for her. She’s beyond seeking simple
revenge. She has been twisted by her own magic and foul attitude into something
truly evil.”
Caleb whistled. “So it’s a good thing Junie
returned while you were sleeping.”
Morgan sat upright. “What did she find out?”
“You’re right, she isn’t just after simple
revenge. Junie was able to get close enough to the sigils to look them up in
the books now she’s back. It’s not looking good. They’re cacodemon sigils. She
thinks Hilana will trade them free reign to create havoc, as long as they first
destroy everyone who has done her harm.”
Morgan’s throat constricted that the mention
of cacodemons.  “She’s crazy.”
Caleb nodded. “That was Siobhan’s diagnosis
as well.”
“When does Junie think Hilana will summon
them?”
“At the full moon on Friday.”
“Damn. That doesn’t give us long. Any
suggestions on preventing the summons to begin with?”

“You mean besides burning down the house with
Hilana in it?”

Award winning, bestselling author Phoenix
Johnson has always been intrigued by the written word. Even when she was a
young girl, she usually had her nose stuck in at least one book, and her need
to read would drive her to peruse the back of the same cereal box each morning
at breakfast. Paranormal and fantasy captured her heart, with tales about
dragons, magic, and fanciful creatures sweeping her away to a wonderful new
world where she felt she truly belonged.
Phoenix Johnson has had her nose to the
grindstone, working to make her name known. With only a few months left to the
end of her Bachelor of Arts Degree, she is eager for more time to focus purely
on her writing.  Phoenix is extremely
excited to see where her writing career takes her next.

Come to the party!

Daily Writing Is Happening!

Even though I haven’t been posting on here every day (like I should), I have been writing for at least five minutes a day. I’m doing a lot of roughing things out with a pen and notebook. Things just seem to be flowing better with ink and paper, as of late. Even with everything that’s going on in my personal life (both fantastic and bad), I’m managing to get things done in my writing life.

I’m working hard to merge Frost back on the track I laid out for it in my original outline. I set my outline aside for a little while and wandered a little farther away from it than I intended. There are things I like about the old outline and things I like about where the creative flow took me. Now I’m just working on making a cohesive marriage of the two, and trying to see how that’s going to change the remaining 31 scenes I had originally planned for the book. I plan on finishing the free version on JukePop by the end of the summer so I can get it edited and release some time this winter.

After I get the next scene written for Frost, I’m going to work on the next chapter of The Alexandria Chronicles, then Murphy’s Law of the Jungle. Frost is still my number one priority, though. Once the edited and expanded version of Frost has been released, I intend to focus primarily on finishing Murphy’s Law of the Jungle. I’d like to have that story wrapped up by the end of next summer. If all goes well with Frost, I am likely to try to publish an edited and expanded edition of Murphy’s Law of the Jungle through JukePop.

What about that awesome space opera I’m working on called The Alexandria Chronicles, you ask? I will continue adding chapters to it when I’m taking breaks from my primary projects!

As for personal things going on in my life, it’s now a mixed bag. My grandmother is going on 93 and her health is deteriorating swiftly. She is the only living grandparent I have left. I know she’s had a lot of good years and is leaving us with an incredible legacy, but it’s still a very painful thing to deal with. On the bright side, however, my fiancé got to meet her and she congratulated us on our impending nuptials. This brings me back to the original reason I started this post: daily posts are not my strong suit, and I can guarantee you that my updates will be scattered and/or infrequent between now and the wedding.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to really and truly settle into the habit of posting on here daily some time in August or September. I feel that, as a writer, I need the responsibility and  accountability that posting on a daily basis brings. In the past, my creativity has been a bit spastic and dictated by my rather fickle muse. I’m glad to state that the muse and I recently had a come to Jesus meeting, and she’s being much more cooperative now that I’m only demanding 5 minutes a day from her, as opposed to me trying to write a novel in 3 days during a manic fit riddled with very little sleep and too much coffee.
