Quote of the Day – 3/3/2016

“Obstacles cannot crush me. Every obstacle yields to stern resolve. He who is fixed to a star does not change his mind.” -Leonardo da Vinci

I realized recently that the scope of my Quote of the Day posts may be too narrow. I don’t just want to advise other struggling writers. I want to reach out to everyone who may be struggling with the journey that is pursuing their calling.

So, from here on in, I will be broadening the scope of my posts to include everyone who feels called to do something. I will still be relating my personal journey in pursuing my calling to serve God through my writing.

I believe that this quote holds a great amount of inspiration for those of us who feel called to serve God through the individual gifts He has given us. If you truly feel called to do something, never give up on it. You feel that call for a reason. Don’t let yourself be dissuaded from following your true calling.

I know it’s hard sometimes. I know that life can be exhausting. Trust me. I faltered yesterday and failed to write because substitute teaching is unimaginably exhausting. I talked over fifth graders, begging them to act right, for almost seven straight hours. I had no voice when I got home, and I had to lie down and sleep.

I should have made time to write because it’s my calling, but I faltered for a moment. I’m only human, and that happens sometimes. But, because writing is my calling, I’m back at it today. I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and I’m at my keyboard even though it’s 11:00 at night because I love this and it’s my calling.

I’m at my keyboard knocking out my daily blog post at 11:00 at night because I love this, and I’m hoping to reach other people who love something in their lives as much as I love writing. I’m hoping to encourage others who feel called to serve God through their talents to believe in themselves and go for it.

What do you feel called to do?
