Different Kinds of Writing

A while back, I got a bad case of writer’s block. What did I do about it? I bought Write. 10 Days to Overcome Writer’s Block. Period. by Karen Peterson, Ph.D. In the book, she states that there are different types of writing, and that has been the biggest help to me of all. I occasionally feel that I’m not being a productive author because I’m revising instead of creating new material. Peterson claims that there are six possible types of writing within the writing process that the writer can choose from: read-writing, cowriting, rote writing, prewriting, writing, and rewriting.

I’m doing a combination of rote-writing and prewriting, and I am taking this opportunity to remind myself that these count as writing, too.
